The Embedded Platforms I am interested in are those that can run an open source OS (FreeBSD or Linux) without too much work. Some other features I am interested in are:
- low power consumption
- small size
- digital video output
- audio output (digital or analog)
- network interfaces (wireless or wired)
Here are some useful links:
AMD's Embedded Site
LinuxDevices.com has a lot of information on adapting linux for embedded applications, along with information on hardware/systems.
OpenBrick.org is a project involving various applications of GNU, Linux, and FreeBSD on a standard hardware box, or "brick".
Homemade Embedded BSD Systems is an article on a embedded BSD project.
Embedded Hardware, the book, on Amazon.com.
VIA's Epia-N Nano-ITX system. Link to a review.
Platforms w/ WIFI
MiniBox WRAP has a Single Board Computer (SBC) with MiniPCI wifi and enclosures w/ antennas.
C Data Solutions has compact-flash based computers, which can be used with CF Wifi cards. |
